- The Department of Automobile Engineering (DAE) was established in the year 1948. The course was known as Automobile Service Engineering (ASE) and was approved by City and Guilds of London. The ASE course was later converted to Diploma in Automobile Engineering. It was approved by the All India Council of Technical Education, Govt. of India in the year 1993 and was affiliated to the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education.
- The Department of Automobile Engineering is situated at Kaji Najrul Islam Avenue (VIP Road) Kaikhali,Dum Dum with all facilities for theoretical and practical classes. It has modern facilities for Automobile Workshop, Mechanical Workshop, Electrical Workshop , Hydraulic Workshop,computer Lab etc.
- The admission to the course is based on AICTE norms and the Diploma is issued by West Bengal State Council of Technical Education, Govt. of West Bengal. The duration of the course is 3 years. The intake capacity of students is 60 every year, of which equal number of students are admitted in "payment" & "free" seats. The "free seats" are allotted to students qualified through Polytechnic Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the Govt. of West Bengal, while the "Payment Seats" are allotted to students on first-come-first-served basis, who have got qualifying marks in Class-10 Board Examination.
- The teaching staff of the Department is highly qualified and experienced Sr. Lecturers from Educational/Industrial fields. The Annual Results of the students are highly satisfactory.
- Many of the students who have passed out from the Department are placed at high position in Govt. Departments and Private Organizations.
- Eligibility for Admission :-
Should have passed Madhyamik (Class-X) with physical Science and
Mathematics securing minimum 60%in these subjects.
- Age Limit :- 17 to 21 years
